About Our Executive Team
Benson Wong is Interim Executive Director; he has served Wu Yee since 2005 as a Board of Directors Committee Member. Ben has spent the past two decades in the fields of youth development, after school programming, and community organizing. From 2001-2009, Ben was the Director of the landmark San Francisco Chinatown Beacon Center, serving thousands of youth and families with out-of-school time programs and services. During the latter part of that period, he also served as the Deputy Director for Community Educational Services (CES). Over the years, Ben has amassed considerable expertise in staff management, budgeting and contracting, fund development, board relations, strategic planning, and policy advocacy. Mr. Wong has created and been involved with the sustainability of community collaborations, school/community partnerships, youth service providers, and governmental agencies. Prior to the Beacon Center, Ben was an Associate Director and Youth Program Coordinator with the Asian& Pacific Islander Wellness Center, a Crime Prevention Specialist with San Francisco SAFE, and a Project Director with Chinatown Youth Center. He has been the Chair/Member of the Juvenile Justice Commission, and President/Member of the Delinquency Prevention Commission. Ben holds a B.S. in Business Information and Computing Systems, and an M.S. in Counseling, Marriage& Family Therapy from San Francisco State University.
Priscilla Chen-Ok has been the Director of Finance since 2004. Prior to this she served as Director of Finance and Operations for Jewish Vocational Services. She had worked for Publicis Frankel advertising firm based out of Chicago as their Director of Finance and Operation of their San Francisco office. Her prior professional experience also includes Vice President of Finance and Business Development of several commercial real estate investment firms such as Feher Young & Associates, Terronomics BT Commercial, and Federal Realty Investment Trust. She holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from San Francisco State. She is a mother of three and resides in Oakland, California.
Alyson Lee-Suzuki is the Director of Family and Provider Services. Alyson has been with Wu Yee since 2005 and currently leading the Child Care Resource & Referral, Child Care Subsidies, SF CARES, Joy Lok Family Resource Center, Provider Training and Food Program. She has over 13 years experience working in the nonprofit social services field. Previously, she was the Executive Director of the Chinatown Community Children’s Center, the Child Care Director of the Peninsula Family YMCA, and Program Director of the Chinese Multimedia Business Program at the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) in New York City. Alyson is a former board member of the San Francisco and Marin YWCA, and PAWS (Pets are Wonderful Support). She received her Bachelors degree in Psychology from the State University at Albany and holds an Early Childhood Director permit. She was the recipient of the Governor’s Scholarship for Women in 2003 for Public Service, and is also pursuing her Master of Public Administration degree at San Francisco State University.
Maureen Sheveland is the Director of Content for our Early Head Start/Head Start and State preschool programs. Maureen joined Wu Yee in 2007. She began as the Center Manager for our two Tenderloin Child Development Centers, and then transitioned to the Child Development Department leadership team where she now serves as Director of Content. Maureen has over ten years of classroom experience, ranging from preschool – eighth grade, in addition to serving as an administrator and mentor teacher for pre-school and kindergarten public and private non-profit programs. She holds a B.S. in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University and is currently pursuing a Ph D in Psychology.
Tiffany Vuong-Ling joined Wu Yee in 2000. She started as a Case Manager with the Chinatown Beacon Center program, then transitioned to the Human Resources Department in 2004. Tiffany has been the Human Resources Director since 2008. She previously worked in the youth development community to address the needs of children in the juvenile and prison systems. Tiffany graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Asian American Studies and Criminal Justice and received her Master of Public Administration from San Francisco State University.
