About Wu Yee Children’s Services:

More than 35 years ago, Wu Yee Children’s Services was founded by leaders of two San Francisco Chinatown organizations. Initially named “The Association of Children’s Rights”, the organization eventually became known in the community as “Wu Yee”, which in Cantonese means “Protector of Children”.

With administrative offices in San Francisco, today Wu Yee Children’s Services remains dedicated to serving families and children (approximately 65% are Chinese and 25% are Latino/Hispanic), most of whom require linguistically and culturally appropriate services. Wu Yee primarily serves families through facilities in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley, the Tenderloin and three locations in Chinatown.

In all, approximately 3,500 children, families and providers receive direct support through Wu Yee services, with about 17,000 referrals and other instances of advisory provided. The organization has 130 full time equivalent staff, and a budget of about $14 million, of which $6.5 million is administered as pass-through grants. Wu Yee Children’s Services is transitioning from an eleven-year tenure of a respected leader, with the intention of building upon excellent programmatic strengths, exploring new and expanded lines of service to children and their families, and developing more diverse funding.

____

Wu Yee seeks an Executive Director who is a visionary leader with a proven track record of execution and delivering results. The core of Wu Yee’s mission will remain unchanged going forward – serving children and families requiring linguistically and culturally appropriate services.

We seek proven senior-level managerial and operational experience; fundraising and fiscal management experience as an executive in the not-for-profit, governmental, or private sectors; experience leading organizations with multimillion dollar budgets and significant staff is preferred; a demonstrated commitment to family and children services is strongly preferred, as is experience working with Asian, particularly Chinese communities.
