Provider Training

Do you like working with young children? Are you interested in working from home or to own your small business? Wu Yee Children’s Services’ Provider Training Program can help you!

We are dedicated to building and maintaining the supply of Family Child Care in San Francisco.  Our bilingual and bicultural staff provide free Cantonese training and support to various home-based settings to enhance the quality of care. Licensed family child providers, those wanting to open a family child care home, and family, friends, and neighbors caring for children informally (license-exempt providers) can all benefit from our training and technical assistance.

Our services include:

  • Support and training about becoming a licensed family child care provider;
  • Support with expanding to a large family child care;
  • Ongoing technical assistance to existing family child care providers;
  • Professional development training to both new and existing Family Child Care providers on topics including health and safety, quality childcare environments, developmentally appropriate materials, arts and crafts, literacy, immunization, marketing and more;
  • Individual business assistance to providers at our Business Center on customizing a business loan, marketing, business planning, environmental improvement, and more.
  • Acting as a liaison for providers, answering questions in regard to licensing policies and regulations;
  • Conducting pre-licensing inspection for first-time family child care applicants and expansion applicants;
  • Facilitating Provider Café, a support group for family child care providers;
  • Conducting site visits to assist in improving family child care settings;
  • Providing financial support to licensed Family Child Care Providers through various scholarships, including Start-up cost, CPR and First Aid classes;
  • Hosting bi-monthly Cantonese Licensing Orientations

All training and services are free of charge, priorities are given to child care providers offering care in San Francisco.

Lending Library
Wu Yee’s lending libraries provide an extensive selection of educational materials, such as bilingual books for children age 0-5, CDs, puzzles, toys, furniture and supplies for families and child care providers to borrow at no cost.  To become a member, please bring a photo ID with proof of address to receive a library card.  Our locations are located at:
