SF CARES
San Francisco Comprehensive Approaches to Raising Educational Standards (SF CARES)
Since 2000, The San Francisco CARES Program has been awarding stipends to the Early Child Care Workforce on an annual basis. Stipends are determined by an individual’s Child Development Permit and degree, as well as meeting certain work and continuing education requirements. The ultimate goal of SF CARES is to provide financial incentives and support so that early childhood educators and caregivers continue their education while also providing stability in the workplace to ensure that children and families in San Francisco receive the highest quality of care.
Applications are available in English, Spanish and Cantonese.
To be eligible for a stipend you must:
1. Work in San Francisco at a licensed Center or licensed FCC for a minimum average of 15 hours per week and earn less than $60,000/yr.
2. Hold a current California Child Development permit or have a receipt confirming that you applied for a permit.
3. Have worked a minimum of nine months at the same licensed program/agency or family child care business.
