Wu Yee delivers comprehensive services throughout the City of San Francisco. We serve over 4,000 children, families and child care providers each year.

We provide Early Head Start, Head Start, and State Preschool programs, Child Care Resources and Referrals, Child Care Subsidies, as well as provider services programs including Child Care Food Program, Provider Training and the Family Child Care Quality Network (FCCQN). The Family Services Program Director provides the leadership, strategic direction, management, coordination and compliance for our Joy Lok Family Resource Center, and Resource and Referral (R&R) programs.  The Director will work closely with the Chief Programs Officer, Child Development and Provider Services Directors to create, lead and implement quality programs serving diverse communities.

The will serve as an agency liaison to key community partners advocating for Wu Yee’s mission. Partnering with funders they will review and develop policies and procedures, and ensure sound program strategies are developed.  The Family Services Program Director will also design and implement consumer and provider education that meets the unique needs of families and providers; and lead the grant proposal writing related to the department. 


  • Minimum of 2 years of Director or Assistant Director Experience (managing managers or supervisors) required.
  • Robust knowledge of family support principles or child development programs, issues and funding, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area and the State of California.
  • Experience working with government agencies, private funders and programs.
  • Significant external (government and CBO) contact and meetings.
  • Experience working with Immigrant Families and the needs and challenges of Immigrant families.
  • Passion for policy work and advocacy.
  • Deep understanding of family support or child development field, preferably from a variety of perspectives
  • Strong management and leadership abilities with a clear vision for the program.
  • Experience working with government agencies, private funders and programs.
  • A team builder with strong skills in management, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to strategically plan and budget. 
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Web.


• Master’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood, Special Education, or related degree preferred OR Bachelor’s Degree in the above fields with a Minimum of 5 years in the child development/social services field and 2 years of Director or Assistant Director experience.
